Creating Potions – Maths in the Garden – Year 4

Year 4 enjoyed making potions today in their outdoor learning session.

In our potions topic we have been looking at instructional writing as well as some weird and wonderful uses for different potions.

Today it was our turn to make potions from the natural resources we could find around school.

Mr Kennedy challenged us to make potions with the most unique smell and colour. We were given a list of things to include in our potions which all included mathematics vocabulary. We had to do lots of counting, measuring and calculating to get it correct!

We also had to think of what our potions would do if they were consumed!

There were some fantastic smells created by crushing the petals of the spring flowers. Interesting colours were made from the berries and fruit trees which are hidden away in our nature garden.
