If you see our power point you will understand how we started to work about Maths in the playground in our school. Take only five minutes to read why we think games are an important teaching and learning tool.
When we thought about how to work “Maths on the playground” we obviously thought about games, PE activities… so for these reason we discuss about the role of games in teaching children and the importance of outdoor activities from different points of view.
Learning with fun. Active language production. Physical movement, children learn better when they are active. Games reinforce values such as work in groups, cooperation, responsibility, improve social skills… learning outside as a motivation element and an exciting tool to teach young learners.
Then… Our PE teacher, Miguel, was in charge to suggest us different games with different purposes in relation with Maths area. We planned games for all ages and divided into different categories:
Maths games.
P.E. games.
Popular and traditional games.
Sports games.
During our cultural week we dedicated a day for “Maths on the playground” and even we had time to planned a project where our pupils had time to work maths on the playgorund…. NOW IT’S TIME TO WATCH THE RESULTS!!! I HOPE YOU LIKE IT.
We designed big posters to show to the rest of the school examples of each categories, look!
