Take a look at some of the maths work children throughout the school have been taking part in linked to our new Erasmus Project “Maths Paths in Europe”.
This Autumn we have been doing some maths activities in the street!
Year Three have been thinking about the maths we use every day, sometimes without even realising!
We used Google Maps to locate our homes and then see how far we travel to school each morning. We then used our doubling skills to work out how far we travel in a day.
Mr Kennedy then showed us how to use a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel – we had to input our travel data and using the auto sum button we would work out the total distance travelled over a week and even the school year!
Next we will produce graphs to display the data we have collected.
Take a look at this short movie which shows all of the work Year 2 have done linked to shapes in the street!
