Year 2 weigh Mrs Gourley’s shopping!
Today Year 2 have been very carefully reading some kitchen weighing scales to measure how heavy Mrs Gourley’s shopping is. The children were very careful to be as accurate as possible. They were then set the challenge of trying to work out the weight of 2 of the items.

Today Year 2 have been very carefully reading some kitchen weighing scales to measure how heavy Mrs Gourley’s shopping is. The children were very careful to be as accurate as possible. They were then set the challenge of trying to work out the weight of 2 of the items.
French Cafe – Year 6
Year Six have been learning the vocabulary for ordering food in a French cafe. To test out what they had learnt they took part in a French Cafe afternoon. The children had to use Euros to pay for the food and then enjoyed tasting some typical French food!
Socks Shopping – 2 times table! – Year 2
Year 2 have learnt the 2 times tables. The children began by counting in steps of 2 using pairs of socks that we we’d bought in the shops!
When we wrote the 2 times table down we realised it was doubles. The children then managed some challenges and could calculate 200 x 2!
Well done Year 2!
Charity Cake Sale – Maths in the Shops – Year 5
Last week it was Cancer Awareness Day. David in our class asked us to raise money for the charity which is very close to his heart.
We all wanted to raise as much money as possible so we decided to have a cake sale. We baked the cakes ourselves; measuring out the ingredients on the scales. We then sold the cakes on the playground and we raised £116.10.
Look at all our hard work, it really did pay off!
