What time does Santa arrive?

In Maths this week we have been learning how to tell the time. We learnt that when the minute hand points straight to the top of the clock, this was o’clock. We then learnt that when the minute hand had gone half way around the clock, it was half past the hour. We also looked at the difference between analogue and digital clocks.

Using what we had learnt in the classroom, we went into the hall and made our very own clocks and set different times on them. The times show the times that Santa arrives in different homes …

A special surprise for Reception Class!

This morning we had the most amazing surprise! Miss Green brought us a special delivery from the postman. It was wrapped in gold paper and was addressed to Reception Class! After looking really close at the parcel, we realised the postage stamp had Santa Clause on it! It must have been from him!
We couldn’t wait to open our parcel. It was a Christmas story book called The Jolly Christmas Postman! We really enjoyed reading it
together.

Santa must have sent this book to Reception to help them write and post their Christmas cards this year!

We have been busy in our writing area, which is now a Christmas post office, writing letters to Santa using stamps and envelopes. Miss Green said she will post the letters for us! Fingers crossed we get a reply!

Christmas Gift Boxes

Year Six have been investigating the properties of a range of 3D shapes and classifying them according to their properties. Do you know which shapes fit into the categories of prisms, pyramids or platonic shapes ?

The children then used these 3D shapes as Christmas gift boxes.
